I'm josie, a neurodivergent clinician providing adult autism assessments in oregon

I was raised in the Appalachian mountains, where people speak simply, listen deeply, and tell the truth with kindness. That upbringing taught me to trust intuition, notice what isn’t said, and understand the subtleties of someone’s story. I bring that same energy into this work. I value steady pacing, honest reflections, and a no-pretense approach that helps people feel understood instead of analyzed.

I come from communities where people learned by watching, listening, and paying attention to the quiet details of everyday life. Growing up around that kind of awareness shaped how I understand people and the stories they carry. It taught me that everyone’s inner world is unique and true to them.

As I moved into clinical work, I realized how rare it is for neurodivergent adults to be met with genuine curiosity instead of assumptions. The values I was raised with naturally led me toward an approach that looks beyond surface-level traits and tries to understand the whole picture of someone’s being.

Spirit Holler grew from that perspective: thoughtful, steady work that makes room for nuance, honors lived experience, and helps people feel truly witnessed during a process that can otherwise feel clinical or impersonal.

My Neurodivergent Lens & Clinical Background

Being neurodivergent myself shapes the way I sit with people. It gives me a lived understanding. It helps me recognize patterns that aren’t always obvious in a traditional clinical setting and approach each assessment with compassion, nuance, and respect.

Alongside my lived experience, I’m a trained and licensed clinician with a 7 year background in mental health, assessment work, and neurodivergent-affirming care. My approach blends evidence-based assessment skills with an understanding that no two autistic adults look the same, and that everyone’s story deserves to be interpreted in the context of their life.

My goal is to offer autism evaluations that feel thoughtful, transparent, and human. You deserve a process that makes sense, honors your lived experience, and gives you language for things you’ve carried for a long time.

who i work well with

I work with adults who want an autism assessment that feels genuinely human. Many of the people who come to me appreciate direct communication, honest reflection, and deep inquiring. They’re often looking for a provider who understands neurodivergence from both a clinical and lived-experience lens.

I’m a good fit for adults who value a mix of clarity, humor, and real human connection. I bring steady presence, a little light sarcasm when it fits, and a respect for your story that goes far beyond checkboxes. If you want an evaluator who can hold seriousness when needed but also make space for levity and the relief of being understood, you’ll likely feel at home here.

If my approach feels like a good fit, you can schedule a short consultation. It’s a quick, low-pressure call to see whether an adult autism assessment is right for you and to answer any questions you may have.
